(More customer reviews)I love my new bag.I play roller derby and I have been looking for a new bag to take on the road for my gear.Helmet pouch?Score!I am able to fit lots of clothing and gear into both sections and with the duffle able to convert to a backpack I am set.Pockets?Check and check.The two sections are very easy to zip apart and back together.

Here are my 2 complaints -
- The wheels on the base are a little close together so sometimes when you're wheeling it around behind you it can get off kilter and flop to the side.Not a big deal really, but slightly annoying when you have a heavy gear bag and you're headed to a far off terminal.
- When I originally ordered this bag I was under the impression that I could use it as a carryon - Both sections zipped together.Many companies actually advertize this as a selling point.
If you have it packed to the brim and both sections zipped together it WILL NOT FIT in an overhead compartment.It is roughly 3 inches too big/tall when laid down.I overcame this by playing dumb and just quickly zipping the two bags apart when I got onto the plane and sticking them in the overhead compartment.Once I had to check it at the gate.Disembarking was easy. made the duffle into a backpack, put it on and pulled the wheelie base behind me.Put it back together once I was off the plane.
If I had known this going into my purchase I probably would have bought the size larger so that I could have used the duffle/backpack section as my carry-on and had a larger wheeled bag to check and then zip together once I reached my destination.But as it is, I can't justify checking the skinny base for $15-30 depending on the airline.

Overall, I would highly recommend this bag.But is you're looking for a carryon I'd suggest checking out the dimensions of the other Athalon bags and maybe going with a larger size.

(More customer reviews)The bag is appears to be constructed from quality materials (I traveled with it only twice, so do not know for sure how long will it last). The bottom is sturdy, so you could package relatively fragile things into it. Rolling this bag is easy. It weights about 7 lb. The price was great too ($38.00 in December 2009). The only problem is that it does not stand too well - if the bag is not full, it is not stable (as to be expected) in the upright position.

(More customer reviews)I was looking for a strong, durable and well built piece of luggage. I travel pretty often and most of the times I pick up my baggage broken at airports. Automated luggage transport systems have absolutely no respect for passengers belongings. And I was tired of that.
I once purchased a High Sierra Backpack and its a great bag. So I decided to buy the High Sierra 26" wheeled duffle this time, and I just don't regret. Even price is a little higher than many other brands, when you have it in your hands you'll be sure it's worth the investment. Enough space, useful compartments, really strong zippers and sturdy, although with a modern look. And yes, it survived 3 of the most baggage-dangerous airports: Orlando, Chicago and Mexico City (in round trips each).
